The significance of performing complete visual studies

View Video

Did you know that one of the most important steps to a successful refractive surgery is a correct selection of the surgical procedure? This, plus the accurate interpretation of studies performed by a specialist contribute to a great post-operative result.

CODET Vision Institute, as part of the CODET System, has a complete Optometry Department operated by the best and most experienced team, trained in the use of equipment, techniques and the most advanced studies in ophthalmology.

CODET´s Department of Optometry provides each patient with the most complete set of tests and studies at no additional cost, offering the best possible surgical result.

Corneal Topography, ORBSCAN

Corneal Topographies

ORBSCAN corneal topograph uses Plácido´s ring technology to trace a map of the patient´s corneal surface.

This map accurately identifies the location of irregularities that cause corneal refractive errors, which cause poor eyesight.

This information is analyzed by the specialist and used to select ideal patients for refractive surgery.

.

Corneal Topography, Pentacam

Pentacam is a rotating camera that takes full advantage of the Scheimplug principle and an advanced neural network (artificial intelligence) software to assist the physician in the accurate diagnose of Keratoconus, which is one of the main contraindications of refractive surgery.

An accurate diagnosis increases the patient´s safety, and it also provides important information for the doctor, so he can customize the procedure for each patient in the treatment of kerataoconus (for example, XLinking)

Corneal Pachymetry, Pentacam

Corneal pachymetry measures the cornea´s thickness, providing increased safety to the patient. Accurate measurements (in microns) helps the surgeon select the best refractive surgery technique (e.g. Intra LASIK or PRK)

Corneal Topography, Cassini

Corneal topographer Cassini uses the reflection principle of Plácido´s rings in the cornea. It also uses complex mathematical algorithms to analyze both anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea, including astigmatism, which is one of the main refractive issues causing poor eyesight.

This allows the specialist to accurately calculate the intraocular lens that will be implanted in the patient´s eye during cataract surgery. Therefore, contributing to the best possible result for the patient.

Refractometry, COSS 2000

Nidek COSS 2000´s first-class technology calculates an approximate high-order (myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism) refractive error that causes poor eyesight.

Subjective Visual Tests, COSS 2000

COSS 2000 subjective tests contribute to the patient´s visual health diagnosis. It provides the specialist a best refractive result that refractometry, to obtain better visual acuity.

It accurately indicates the amount of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism of patients. I.e., the best refractometry or prescription (amount of diopters) that each patient can tolerate to have the best post-operative result according to their needs and expectations.

Lensometry COSS 2000

COS 2000 cutting-edge lensometer measures the actual lens prescription on patients by calculating the number of diopters. This information, along with the proper medical assessment, allows doctors to estimate the patient´s refractive stability, i.e., How much their myopia, astigmatism or hyperopia has changed with time, and if it will keep changing or not, and thus determining whether the patient is a refractive surgery candidate.
