A wide range of Premium IOL Options

View Video

There are several types of Premium IOLs in the market including the Alcon Acrysof IQ PanOptix, Alcon Toric, and the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). A new standard of vision correction is being set with Premium IOLs, in which patients are enabled to do most of their daily activities without glasses, including driving, watching TV, working at the computer, reading and all daily visual activities on the move. Please don't forget to ask for more information on Premium IOLs during your cataract or Refractive Lense Exchange (RLE) consultation.

What types of Intraocular Lenses are available?

  1. Monofocal IOL: With the introduction of the aspheric monofocal IOLs, people can enjoy very crisp distance vision. It is important, however, that there is little or no astigmatism when using a Monofocal IOL.  Otherwise, a Toric IOL is necessary.
  2. Toric IOL: This is a monofocal IOL that allows for the correction of astigmatism. It is one of the most commonly used Premium IOLs.
  3. Multifocal IOL: This Premium IOL allows for distance and near vision. Recently, an IOL that combines both Toric and Multifocal technology became available. Now, both Astigmatism and Presbyopia can be corrected using the same IOL. Moreoever, Astigmatic LASIK is another viable add-on option for those individuals with moderate or high astigmatism seeking multifocality after cataract surgery.
  4. Trifocal IOL: This advanced technlogy IOL corrects near, intermediate and far distance vision. They are also available with the Toric component, wich corrects astigmatism and allows the patient be independent of glasses. At CODET Vision Institute, we offer the Acrysof IQ PanOptix IOL.
  5. Light Adjustable Lens (LAL): The LAL is the most revolutionary IOL in the current IOL pipeline. The LAL allows for an unprecedented degree of accuracy and versatility. It is possible to create optics with aspheric (great distance vision), toricity (astigmatism correction) and multifocality (allows for both, distance and near vision). In our opinion, this is going to be the most popular IOL in the near future. CODET Vision Institute is proud of having participated in the development of this IOL and it is considered by Dr. Chayet to be the best option available in Cataract/IOL surgery.
  6. Extended Depth of Focus IOL (EDOF): There is a new category of IOLs now commercially available called Extended Depth of Focus IOLs. This category of IOLs is designed to enhance intermediate and near visual perfomance while having minimal impact on distance visual performance. Moreover, one of the main goals of this category is to prevent the incidence of glare and halos often seen in Multifocal IOLs.

AcrySof® IQ PanOptix IOL

The AcrySof® IQ PanOptix ® and the AcrySof® IQ PanOptix Toric lenses are high technology trifocal lenses, which were approved for commercial use in Europe and more recently in Mexico. These technologies are not available in USA.

CODET Vision Institute, performed the first implant of one of the most innovative technologies regarding intraocular lens implants: the intraocular toric trifocal AcrySof® IQ PanOptix® lens, which besides allowing patients to see at different distances, it also corrects one of the most common refractive errors which is astigmatism.

This technology, besides the high biocompatible patented material AcrySof™ proven in more than 100 million implants in the world, also has the unique ENLIGHTEN (Enhanced LIGHT Energy) technology that optimizes the amount of light that gets to the retina, which results in better quality images in different lights conditions in the environment.

The AcrySof® IQ PanOptix ® Lens, in contrast with other trifocal lenses, has 3 added power that allow vision to be more natural in the different ranges of visual distance. The AcrySof® IQ PanOptix ® Lens is designed so that the IOL adapts in a more natural way in the patient.

It is important for a cataract surgery specialist to evaluate what kind of intraocular lens is the best for every specific case for each patient. At CODET Vision Institute, we have the best doctors and the most advanced and forthcoming implant technologies in intraocular lenses for a Vision Without Borders. Even before these technologies are available in USA we have them here for you . If you are interested in knowing if AcrySof® IQ PanOptix ® or AcrySof® IQ PanOptix Toric technology is for you, please feel free to contact us.
