Calhoun Vision's Light Adjustable Lens (LAL): An intraocular lens (IOL) whose optical power can be adjusted with a beam of light after a standard cataract removal and subsequent IOL implantation. The LAL is an idea that was born out of Dr. Dan Schwartz's (UCSF) vision that an adjustable IOL was needed to solve the pervasive problem seen after many cataract removal and subsequent IOL implantations, in which uncorrected residual refractive errors persist.
