Tijuana: From party town to tech hub 7/12/2017

Tijuana: From party town to tech hub

The British magazine Financial Times highlighted Tijuana as a city that evolves, from one that only emulates and builds for others to a city that truly innovates.

It is not completely innovative yet, the magazine states, but it has everything to become so. It also shows interviews of several important personalities from the technological to the service (restaurants, businesses, beer) to the industrial entrepreneurship areas.

From the Financial Times’ perspective, one success story is the innovation of the first binational airport terminal in the world, thanks to the Cross Border Xpress bridge, which connects Tijuana Airport with facilities at San Diego.

It doesn’t deny that Tijuana’s attractive qualities for many tourists and investors is the fact that everything is cheaper south of the border. But the main point of the article is that Tijuana invites others to innovate in ways that is not possible to do in San Diego or the United States.

The same thing happens with medical tourism, since one can benefit from it considering services are offered at a cheaper price, but at the same time recognizing that it is necessary to innovate to survive in a global economy.
