Visual Health in Patients with Diabetes Week 6/10/2019

One of the most effective ways in which the effects of diabetes can be prevented is through exercise and awareness. Dr. Irma Zamudio of CODET Vision Institute is a relentless fighter that wants to make sure that more people are made aware of the power that knowledge can have regarding the consequences of diabetes in the eyes.

The Ophthalmology College of Baja California organized a walk that started from the Monumento al Libro (Monument to the Book) located in front of Tijuana’s Campestre Club. This walk was the first of the many activities done for Diabetic Eye Week and took place on Sunday June 9, 2019.

The purpose of this series of events that lasted until June 15 was for people to be aware of what kind of things they can do to prevent eye damage when they have diabetes or, in case they already have it, for people to know what to avoid and what care they need so that they don’t have any severe complications arising from it.

The community at large was invited to participate in these events and learn more about this condition. Media outlets were thanked due to their broadcasting of these activities for the benefit of society as a whole.

At CODET Vision Institute, we join the call so that the people who have diabetes become aware and learn all about the consequences this disease can cause. We encourage everyone to get regular checkups with an ophthalmologist in case they have any symptoms or complications.

Let’s make awareness the best weapon against diabetes!
