Walk of Diabetic Eye Week 6/10/2018

One of the most effective ways in which the effects of diabetes can be prevented is by exercise and awareness. Dr. Irma Zamudio from CODET Vision Institute is a relentless fighter so that more people are made aware of the power that knowledge has regarding the consequences of diabetes in the eye.

The Walk of Diabetic Eye Week is one of the events that she promotes so that people know what kind of actions they can take to prevent the damage that occur in the eyes when they have diabetes, what must be done if you already have the illness, and how to receive guidance to have a fulfilling life with the least complications possible.

The walk completed on Sunday June 10th was organized by the Ophthalmology College of Baja California (COBC) as a part of the Diabetic Eye Week campaign that, besides bringing the knowledge of the ailments of this disease, also brought free visits to patients throughout this week.

Along with Dr. Zamudio and the State Department of Health, COBC looked for a way of letting people with diabetes know how to take care of themselves, what food they should and could eat and what are the best ways and lifestyle changes that can help so that anyone with a condition that results from having diabetes, such as diabetic retinopathy, can be controlled fully and healthily.

At CODET Vision Institute, we join the call so that people that have diabetes take into account and learn everything about the consequences that a diabetic disease can bring. We also encourage that they check themselves periodically with an ophthalmologist or to see them in case you have some sort of symptom or complication.

Let’s make awareness the best weapon against diabetes!
