Presbyopia with LASIK
|
LASIK has become a very popular way of managing Presbyopia. The most common treatment is called “blended vision correction” or “mini-monovision”. With blended vision, the dominant eye is treated to focus objects at distance and the non-dominant eye is treated to focus at intermediate and/or near distance. A contact lens trial is usually conducted for the patient so that one may experience what monovision is like before having LASIK. More recently, PresbyLASIK has emerged as a viable alternative as well. With PresbyLASIK, a multifocal treatment is generated in the cornea in order for each eye to be able to focus both at distance and near. LASIK for the management of presbyopia is recommended for people from ages 40 to 60. Each person should be submitted to a comprehensive evaluation and all alternatives should be discussed in detail. As with any procedure, there may be pros and cons, and our experienced group of professionals at CODET will be able to help you in the search of the best alternative providing a customized evaluation and diagnosis to each of our patients.
