Is a fleshy thickening of triangular form of the conjunctiva, which can be bilateral (both eyes) and that generally is formed in the nasal side of the eye. It develops secondary to the irritating phenomenon of ultraviolet light, sun, air and dust. That’s why is more frequent to see it in people that spends most of their time in the field, In dusty regions, sandy and very sun stricken where wind blows. The main symptoms are: red eye, irritation, burning sensation, foreign body sensation and in the cases of very big pterygium, there is a decrease in visual sharpness. Treatment: Is surgical, is the only way to get rid of it. We count with innovative techniques to decrease the probability of a new onset (new development of the pterygium).
