Better near vision with Implants

Presbyopia with IOLs

View Video

Since the root of near vision, other wise known as presbyopia, is the progressive loss of elasticity and the stiffening of the natural lens, it makes sense that the replacement of the aging natural lens by a sophisticated artificial intraocular lens (IOL) may be the ultimate and most logical avenue to take for the management of presbyopia.

This procedure is being called Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE). Currently, in most cases, we prefer to delay RLE until atleast age 55, as this is when the natural lens loses its elasticity completely and becomes almost an obsolete part of the eye.

There are a variety of new IOL technologies including multifocal IOLs, trifocal IOLs, accommodating IOLs and adjustable IOLs.  CODET Vision Institute has become one of the premier and most advanced centers in the world for the correction of presbyopia using IOLs.

Recently, we have introduced the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL). Please learn more about the LAL here.

The Z8 Femtosecond Laser technology helps improve and expand treatment options for near vision or presbyopia, offering the possibility of making the corneal flap with a femtosecond laser, and subsequently performing the ideal LASIK technique for each patient, whether it is mono-vision or mini-monovisión.

If your doctor at CODET Vision Institute indicates that for some reason you are not a candidate for LASIK (corneal treatment) to treat presbyopia, the Z8 Femtosecond Laser offers us the option to correct this condition via Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), in which we implant a Premium IOL, correcting Presbyopia, and your distance vision.

Make an appointment with your ophthalmologist at CODET Vision Institute for a personalized evaluation and we will recommend the best option for correcting your near vision.
