Curriculum & Activities

  • Train for and gain responsibilities in:
    • Fundación CODET (CODET Vision Institute’s Foundation, non-profit patient care)
    • CODET Vision Institute (private consultation)
  • Obtain first responder experience with medical phone calls and private emergency management
  • Hands-on experience in the detection and management of all Oculoplastic pathologies
  • Hands-on experience in the performance and interpretation of all diagnostic studies in Oculoplastics
  • Attendance and active participation in multidisciplinary activities
  • Preparation, attendance, and active participation in the academic sessions of the Department of Oculoplastics and other services of the institution
  • Attendance and active participation in the Virtual General Monthly Academic Sessions with invited professors from all over the world
  • Preparation and presentation of academic cases
  • Participation in research protocols
  • Active participation in public and private detection campaigns at CODET’s private practice, at Fundación CODET, and at our mobile unit
  • Study and follow the standard operating procedures of CODET Vision Institute
  • Produce at least one publication and participate in at least 2 national and/or international congresses per year
  • Rotation to a different oculoplastic center in Mexico or to another part of the world is possible after 6 weeks in the fellowship program

Procedures

  • Participate in all CODET private and Fundación CODET surgeries as a surgeon or as an assistant
    • Master the most common surgical procedures for eyelid surgery:
      • Biopsies
      • Eyelid trauma resolution
      • Ectropion and entropion surgery
      • Management of eyelid ptosis
      • Blepharoplasty
  • In cosmetic cases, be able to provide a comprehensive treatment, aided by non-invasive procedures (neurotoxin, fillers)
  • In the case of tumors, master the most useful techniques for eyelid reconstruction

Diagnostic and Surgical Technology

  • At CODET we have everything you need both in the medical office and the operating room, so you can effectively resolve the pathologies that occur in this subspecialty

Requirements

  • English language knowledge: 80% to 100% spoken and written
  • Curriculum VitaeFormal letter requesting to participate in the Fellowship at CODET Vision Institute
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Copy of the Medical Surgeon degree
  • Copy of the Ophthalmology degree
  • Copy of the Surgeon License
