CODET Vision Institute and UABC Celebrate New Class of Eye Care Specialists

CODET and UABC celebrate the graduation of 11 ophthalmologists with Baja California’s first accredited fellowship in advanced eye care.

CODET Vision Institute, in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), is proud to announce the graduation of 11 international ophthalmologists from its prestigious Fellowship Program in Advanced Ophthalmology Specialties.

A First for Baja California: Official Academic Accreditation by UABC

This marks a historic milestone—CODET is the first clinic in Baja California to receive formal academic accreditation from UABC for a fellowship in ophthalmology. This recognition highlights CODET’s continued leadership in medical education, innovation, and advanced eye care.

Our fellowship offers hands-on training in cutting-edge eye surgery techniques, clinical care, and the latest ophthalmic technologies. Graduates work directly alongside world-renowned surgeons in a program that has been shaping global leaders in ophthalmology for over 30 years.

“This partnership with UABC not only elevates our program’s prestige, but also ensures that graduates receive a secure, university-backed diploma—now certified with blockchain technology,” said Dr. Arturo Chayet, Medical Director at CODET Vision Institute.

Changing Lives Through Vision

Beyond education, this collaboration is transforming lives in the community. As part of the program, cataract surgeries have been performed for underserved patients across Baja California, helping restore sight and improve quality of life.

Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila praised CODET’s humanitarian work and its growing status as a center for compassionate care and international medical tourism.

Since its inception in 1994, the fellowship has trained more than 130 ophthalmologists from around the world. Daniel Chayet, CEO of CODET Vision Institute, emphasized the importance of this new chapter:

“This academic alliance strengthens Mexico’s role as a hub for medical innovation—with Tijuana leading the way.”
