CODET Doctors Remain at the Forefront of New Developments and Updates in Ophthalmology

In order to provide excellence in vision care, the ophthalmologists of CODET attended important national and international ophthalmic events to stay current with the new developments.

From Acapulco to Chicago! During the last few weeks, important national and international events took place in the Ophthalmic community. Three of the biggest events of note include the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the VIII World Cornea Congress, and the Annual Retina Meeting of The Mexican Retina Association. CODET Ophthalmologists attended the events to remain at the forefront of the new developments in the Ophthalmic Industry to continue to provide excellence in vision care.

2022 AAO Annual Meeting in Chicago

The American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting took place in Chicago, Illinois from September 30th until October 3rd. The Annual Meeting is a significant event where ophthalmologists of all the subspecialties from around the globe connect.

Attendees participated in many different activities, including meetings on the seven Subspecialty Days (Glaucoma, Refractive Surgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Retina, Uveitis, Cornea and Oculoplastic eye surgery) where they heard experts discuss a variety of topics.

The Ophthalmologists from CODET who attended were: Dr. Arturo Chayet, Medical Director at CODET, Dr. Sergio Groman, Director of the Retina Service, Dr. Erik Navas from the Cornea Fellowship department, Fellowship Dr. Arie Maya, Dr. Andrea Rivas, Dr. Fernando Aguilera and Dr. Fiorella León from the Refractive Surgery and Cataract department, and Dr. Carolina Guzmán from the Oculoplastic fellowship. 

VIII World Cornea Congress

Seven years after its last event, the World Cornea Congress was back with its eighth edition. The Congress was jointly hosted by the Medical Education Resources and the Cornea Society in Chicago, Illinois on September 28 and 29, 2022.

The event consisted of two jam-packed days full of captivating educational sessions. Internationally diverse panels presented a varied lineup of research, techniques, discussions, and more.

Dr. Denisse Pinkus, Co-director of the Cornea Service at CODET, attended the event supporting her commitment to remain at the forefront of new developments in the ophthalmology subspecialties and to continue to offer excellence in vision care to patients. Dr. Erik Navas, Fellow from the Cornea Program at CODET also attended the event.

XLI Annual Retina Meeting

The Annual Retina Meeting from The Mexican Retina Association took place in Acapulco, Guerrero from October 5-8, 2022.

The Meeting included round table discussions, conferences, scientific papers presentations, academic sessions, workshops, and more with Retina experts from many different countries.

Dr. Carlos Maldonado, Dr. Mariana López, Dr. Aldo Noe Ramirez, and Dr. Fernanda Castro, Retina and Vitreous Fellowship at CODET, attended the Meeting.

Dr. Aldo Noe Ramírez, presented the poster entitled “Síndrome de múltiples puntos blancos evanescentes (SMPBE) posterior a vacunación BNT162b2 de ARN, contra Covid-19”, that involved the participation of Dr. Carlos Maldonado and their mentor Dr. Sergio Groman, the Director of the Retina Service at CODET. Dr. Mariana Lopez presented the clinical case titled “Retinopatía Solar, Secundaria a Rituales Solares” on Thursday, October 8, to a panel of Retina experts.
