With immense pride and gratitude, CODET Vision Institute celebrated the graduation ceremony of our ophthalmology fellows — a landmark event marking the culmination of a year of dedication, rigorous clinical training, and groundbreaking scientific contribution.

This year’s ceremony was not merely a graduation — it was a testament to the extraordinary commitment of four exceptional physicians who each dedicated themselves to mastering a distinct and highly specialized field within ophthalmology. Each fellowship represents months of hands-on clinical experience, mentorship, research, and professional growth that will define their careers and, above all, transform the lives of their patients.

Opening Address

The ceremony opened with an address by Dr. Chayet, whose words set an inspiring tone for the entire evening. In a moment that left the audience in awe, Dr. Chayet proudly announced that this graduating term stands as the most scientifically prolific class in the history of CODET’s fellowship program — with the highest number of scientific publications produced by fellows in a single academic year. This achievement speaks volumes about the intellectual caliber, curiosity, and dedication of this remarkable group of physicians.

Special Recognition

We were deeply honored to welcome Haydeé Gómez Llanos Juárez, Vice Chancellor of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) in Tijuana, to our ceremony. Her presence was a powerful acknowledgment of the academic importance of this milestone.

Vice Chancellor Gómez Llanos Juárez delivered a heartfelt speech congratulating the fellows on their graduation and formally recognizing a landmark achievement: the official academic accreditation by UABC of the ophthalmology fellowship program at CODET Vision Institute. This accreditation establishes our fellowship as a formally recognized postgraduate academic program, anchoring CODET’s commitment to education, research, and the future of ophthalmology in the region.

The Fellows Speak

Among the most moving moments of the evening were the acceptance speeches delivered by each of the graduating fellows. With sincerity and depth, they reflected on their journeys — the challenges they overcame, the mentors who guided them, and the patients who inspired them. Their words were both emotional and profoundly inspiring, reminding everyone present why the pursuit of medical excellence matters. There was hardly a dry eye in the room.

Looking Ahead: Class of 2026-2027

The ceremony also served as the official introduction of the incoming fellowship class for 2026–2027. As one chapter closes, another opens — and the presentation of our new fellows was a powerful reminder that CODET’s commitment to training the ophthalmologists of tomorrow is unwavering and ever-growing.

Seeing the excitement and determination in the eyes of our incoming fellows — and witnessing the pride and warmth with which the graduating class welcomed them — was one of the most memorable moments of the night. The continuity of this program, year after year, is a source of deep institutional pride.

Celebration

The evening concluded with a celebratory dinner, where fellows — both graduating and incoming — faculty, guests, and families came together to mark this joyful occasion. Laughter, gratitude, and a shared sense of pride filled the room as we toasted to the future — both theirs and that of the patients whose lives they will continue to change.
