Walking to Raise Awareness About Visual Health in Diabetic Patients
A few weeks ago, Dr. Zamudio participated in the Walk for Visual Health for People with Diabetes, which took place in the city of Tijuana.
On November 17th, Dr. Irma Zamudio participated in a walk to raise awareness about Diabetic Eye Week and the importance of addressing symptoms of diabetes or prediabetes in a timely manner. If unmanaged properly, diabetic patients can develop serious eye conditions such as Diabetic Retinopathy. These conditions can sometimes lead to irreversible blindness if not treated promptly.
The event was organized by the Colegio de Oftalmología de Baja California. They started their walk in Club Campestre and concluded it at the Torre Agua Caliente.
The walk was part of ophthalmologists’ preventive medicine efforts against diabetic complications, one of them being vision loss. The invitation was open to the general public, especially diabetic patients, their families, and healthcare professionals. The Colegio de Oftalmología also offered free consultations to those attending the event.
Dr. Zamudio has especially shown her commitment to bringing awareness to the importance of this cause, by promoting early detection and comprehensive care for people living with diabetes. By combining community engagement, education, the event reinforced the value of preventive medicine in combating vision loss caused by diabetes. Dr. Zamudio’s dedication to raising awareness serves as an inspiring example of how healthcare professionals can make a meaningful impact in addressing the challenges faced by diabetic patients.
