New Concepts in AMD: Cuticular Drusen

Learn about Cuticular Drusen and its connection to Macular Degeneration from Dr. Gerardo Ledesma Gil, Retina and Vitreous Specialist, speaking at CODET Vision Institute.

We began the year with our Monthly Academic Session entitled “New Concepts in AMD: Cuticular Drusen”, which took place on January 26. We had the honor of hosting Dr. Gerardo Ledesma Gil, a Retina and Vitreous Specialist and professor at the Instituto de Oftalmología Conde de Valenciana as a speaker.

Dr. Ledesma began the webinar by describing the history of Cuticular Drusen and Age-Related Macular Degeneration. This was followed by a review of papers, discoveries and research completed over the years that are key to having a better understanding of Drusen and its effect on the development of Macular Degeneration. Afterwards, Dr. Ledesma presented current research on Cuticular Drusen, differences between other Drusen, unique characteristics that allow them to be identified, and clinical cases.

To conclude, Dr. Ledesma took a moment to answer questions from session attendees.

We thank Dr. Gerardo Ledesma Gil for his participation in the January Academic Session and his fascinating lecture about Cuticular Drusen and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).
