CODET Raises Awareness About Glaucoma

Dr. Gabriela Avila answers common questions about Glaucoma in this interview with Salud Californias.

In order to raise awareness about glaucoma, Dr. Gabriela Avila, a specialist in the subject, was interviewed for the broadcast program, Salud Californias by the news channel KSDY-50 San Diego/Baja California.

Glaucoma occurs as a result of damage to the optic nerve. It is a progressive condition that is primarily associated with increased pressure in the eye and can lead to blindness.

“Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness in the world, when it is not diagnosed in time,” explained Dr. Avila.

While Glaucoma can be hereditary, it is not the only cause of this disease. Other factors such as tumors and diabetes can also cause it.
