CODET Attends XV Congress of the International Strabismological Association

CODET’s ophthalmologist participated in the XV ISA Meeting 2022, an International Congress held for the first time in Mexico, in Cancun.

The International Strabismus Association (ISA) held its XV Meeting in Cancun, Mexico, from September 8 to 11, 2022. Ophthalmologists and optometrists from around the world who have interests in Strabismus attended the event.

During the 4-day conference, participants engaged in activities with conferences, round tables, and symposiums on many topics such as: practical surgical anatomy, visual impact on congenital neurological disorders, strabismus and binocular problems in the elderly population, oculomotor nerve palsy, restrictive strabismus, new surgical techniques, how to test and treat amblyopia in 2022, and more.

Dr. Adriana Valdés, Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service at CODET, actively participated in the congress as part of the local organizing committee and as master of ceremonies and speaker at the “Beyond Amblyopia” Symposium with the presentation “When Elevation Paralysis Means Niemann Pick C” and “Cornea, Sclera and Beyond”, and at the conference “Myopia, to See or Not to See”.

Additionally, she presented the conference “OCT for all high specialties because we all need it” with the inaugural workshop “Multimodal forum on the indications of the OCT for your current consultation”.

Dr. Irma Zamudio also participated as co-coordinator of the conference “Botulinum Toxin. Strength and Power”.

Dr. Martín Guzman, Director of the Oculoplastic Service at CODET, was part of the conference “Strabismus Orbiting the World. Orbit Group” with the presentation “Botulinum Toxin: Restrictive and Cosmetic Strabismus” and hosted a workshop for experts on the cosmetic and functional application of Botulinum Toxin (Botox).

This year marked the first time the event was held in Mexico and was a complete success. It featured the participation of numerous brands from the ophthalmic industry as well as ophthalmologists and optometrists from different countries around the world.

The International Strabismus Association (ISA) was founded in the United States in 1966. Today it has more than 50 years of experience. Every four years since its formation, it has organized a congress for Ophthalmologists and Optometrists around the globe who have an interest in Strabismus.
